The quintessential Country French table in beautiful walnut is a slight oval shape with two drop leaves allowing it to double as a side piece. This piece was found in Aubagne in the South of France in a shop called Le Gardian Du Passe owned and run by Pierre. We had an appointment and Pierre unlocked the door and greeted us in his leather apron worn for working on the many pieces that make their way into his hands. Pierre was very passionate about every piece in his shop (and there were many). He knew the provenance for each one and was eager to share the stories to us in great detail through our French interpreter. This table was from the Aubagne area and had been in Provence since about 1830 serving as the main dining table for many generations eating typical Provencal cuisine. The beautiful walnut grain is warm and inviting for a shared meal and conversation.
