Origin: England ( although it really looks like the N.C. pottery of the 1800's)
Circa: 19th century
We found this piece at an auction of an English shipment of antiques and there are no markings indicating a N.C. pottery piece; however this is a wonderful "knockoff" of a late 1800's N.C. pottery jug with the signature greenish glaze and narrow opening. Could it have made its way back and forth across the Atlantic during its roughly 150 year existence? Whether truly English or American, it is a wonderful antique piece that works well on the floor or up high on top of a hutch or chest.
